“In their dark\u00adest hour, they turn on the video cam\u00adera for the last time and doc\u00adu\u00adment the final moments of their jour\u00adney home. They soon real\u00adize that their dreams and promises of a new life mean noth\u00ading in a place called War.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Armed with dreams that extend beyond their block, Luis and Ronald, two best friends from Los Ange\u00adles, make a movie doc\u00adu\u00adment\u00ading their last 36 hours before ship\u00adping off to Afghanistan. Luis wants to be a film\u00admaker and Ronald wants to travel the world and raise a family.<\/p>\n

With no money for film acad\u00ademy, and grades too low to win a schol\u00adar\u00adship at a Uni\u00adver\u00adsity with a film depart\u00adment, Luis decides to enlist in the Marine Corps.
\nThe Recruiter promises Luis that if he enlists, the Gov\u00adern\u00adment will pay for his film school tuition when he returns home. In doing research, I actu\u00adally went into an Army Recruit\u00adment Cen\u00adter as if I were Luis. I told the Recruiter my story (Luis\u2019s story), and as I was walk\u00ading out, pro\u00admo\u00adtional mate\u00adri\u00adals in hand, the Recruiter stopped me and said, \u201cCome by any\u00adtime and make this place your home, Luis Walker I look for\u00adward to say\u00ading I recruited the next Spike\u00a0Lee.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Draw\u00ading from the Dogma 95 Move\u00adment and the global street art move\u00adment, we are cre\u00adat\u00ading a new film move\u00adment here in the United States where the lack of resources serve the story as opposed to hin\u00adder\u00ading it, blur\u00adring the line between real\u00adity and fic\u00adtion. How\u00adever, our inten\u00adtion is not to trick the audi\u00adence into believ\u00ading that what they\u2019re watch\u00ading is real, but rather what they\u2019re watch\u00ading is true to\u00a0life<\/em>.”
