\nThe Homestretch<\/em>\u00a0follows three homeless teens as they\u00a0fight to stay in school, graduate, and build a future. Each of these smart,\u00a0ambitious\u00a0teenagers – Roque, Kasey and Anthony – will surprise, inspire, and\u00a0challenge audiences to rethink stereotypes of homelessness as they work to\u00a0complete their education while facing the trauma of being alone and abandoned\u00a0at an early age.
\nThrough haunting images, intimate scenes, and\u00a0first-person\u00a0narratives, these teens take us on their journeys of struggle and triumph. As\u00a0their stories unfold, the film connects us deeply with\u00a0larger issues of\u00a0poverty, race,\u00a0juvenile\u00a0justice, immigration, foster care, and LGBTQ rights.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0unprecedented access into the Chicago Public Schools, The Night Ministry\u2019s\u00a0Crib<\/em> emergency youth shelter and Teen Living Programs\u2019\u00a0Belfort\u00a0House,\u00a0The Homestretch<\/em>\u00a0follows these kids as they move through the\u00a0milestones of high school while navigating a landscape of couch\u00a0hopping,\u00a0emergency shelters, transitional homes, street families and a school system on\u00a0the front lines of this crisis.\u00a0\u00a0The film, a co-production between Spargel Productions and Kartemquin Films,\u00a0examines the\u00a0struggles\u00a0these youth face\u00a0in obtaining a high\u00a0school level education,\u00a0and then\u00a0follows them\u00a0beyond graduation to focus on\u00a0the crucial transition\u00a0when the structure of school vanishes and homeless youth\u00a0struggle to find the support and community they need to survive and be\u00a0independent.
